Blast From The Past
I’ve been collecting music for much of my life, and will continue until either I stop caring about music or the world ends. Right now my money is on the latter happening first, though I still think the Mayans were full of crap. I mean, come on… these people couldn’t even predict the end of their own civilization, let alone the end of all humanity. But I digress.
We all know from personal experience that times change, people change, and tastes change. What we thought was cool ten years ago might be better left as a deep dark secret now. When I was growing up I never would have imagined being a fan of the music I listen to now, and back then I listened to stuff that I look back on now like, “What the hell was I thinking?” As a result, there are a lot of CDs still in my collection that I haven’t listened to in ages.
And sure, I suppose I could always sell them to people who might actually listen to them and enjoy them. But I figured it might be more interesting to revisit them and see how I react to them now. Maybe I can unearth some forgotten favorites. Maybe I can change my mind about some of these albums. Or maybe I can reassure myself that I was right to forget about them in the first place. And that’s what BLAST FROM THE PAST is all about.
(TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ VERSION: Sing it with me! I’m gonna take you back to the past/To play my old CDs that suck ass…)
